A personal story of mental health, healing, and holding on.
There’s a certain pressure to seem fine — to smile when someone asks “How are you?”, to reply “I’m good” even when you’re not. I used to believe that if I admitted I was struggling, I was somehow weak. That changed when I realised: it takes far more strength to be honest.
🌧️ The Fog Days
For me, depression didn’t arrive with drama — it came in quietly.
It was the unopened curtains, the ignored texts, the ever-growing pile of laundry. It was the inner voice that whispered, “You should be doing better,” when I could barely get out of bed.
But I wasn’t lazy. I wasn’t broken.
I was ill. And I needed help.
🧠 Asking for Support Changed Everything
The turning point came when I finally told someone how I felt. A friend. Then a GP. Then a therapist.
I expected judgement. What I got was:
“You’re not alone.”
“You’re not too much.”
“You are worth helping.”
Mind’s resources helped me understand my feelings, and reminded me that my mental health matters just as much as my physical health.

🌱 What Healing Looks Like (for Me)
It wasn’t a straight line. Some days felt worse before they got better. But slowly, I found tools that worked for me:
-
Journaling in the morning, even if it was just one line.
-
Going for short walks — not for steps, but for sunlight.
-
Talking kindly to myself like I would to a friend.
-
Letting go of guilt for resting.
Sometimes the bravest thing I did all day was take a shower. And that still counts.

You just have to keep going — at your pace.
🌼 Your struggle doesn’t make you weak.
🌼 Your story isn’t over.
🌼 You deserve support.
Please, don’t suffer in silence. Speak. Reach. Ask.
